Why blogging about Family?
Some years back, I realized that the family had a much deeper meaning than united by kinship or live under the same roof. It all started when I perceive that going to Champs de Mars for the horse races, for example, was much more than only accompanying the males of the family, but it was more about the sharing of their passion with their children and their wives and also enjoying an ‘extended family’ time.
Champs de Mars, located in Port-Louis, is a horse race track in Mauritius and is also one of the oldest race course of the Indian Ocean. The races take place usually on Saturdays but there are exceptions sometimes where the races are on Sundays too. Going to Champs de Mars is an important activity for many Mauritians.
Going to the races has become a sort of tradition for our family and we do not limit ourselves to races but are open to other activities, other outings. Sharing our passion with the different members of the family enables us to be closer to each other and to share common interests on a long term. Attending horse racing with mum and dad years back as a little child, would mean going to the park and playing with my little cousins but now it has developed to not only the ‘playground’ aspect of this experience; we’ve come to love horse and to appreciate the racing itself much like our other family members, maintaining the tradition. Coming back to my avatar which is a tree, the connection of being together is reflected through these activities.
Choosing a topic was not an easy task but while choosing family I wanted to demonstrate the importance not only having a family, but being truly linked. I want to show that being of different age groups is not a barrier instead we can experience different activities depending on the interest of each member from different generation. I choose this topic to showcase the activities or beyond the activities going abroad to be together with the other members of the family. Writing, sharing videos or photos in fact allow me to share the happy moments of being in family with people who shares the same idea about family. It is a way of expressing my happiness of having a close family.
I want to share the several experiences and feeling of experiencing different family activities together. Blogging about family bonds shows the entertainment and fun enjoyed with family. I want to show that we can have fun while being with the family. It is also a way to demonstrate through photos the family’ creativity and originality in doing things.
